The eCommerce has allowed us to redefine the concept of commerce and the way of doing business. The first important change in the commercial process was due to the appearance of the currency, thanks to which it was passed from primitive barter to traditional commerce. Centuries later, with the cheaper transportation, we went from the traditional model to global trade; that is, the same type of transaction, but a larger area of ​​action. Likewise, we have experienced a revolution in commerce due to the arrival of electronic payment methods, and recently the implementation of information and communication technologies.

In recent years we have met a large number of people who assure that the Internet is the future and will be indispensable in every aspect of our lives. The reality is that they are almost correct, with the sole exception that the future is today. The change in our lifestyle in the last ten years is undeniable, our almost total dependence on our mobile phone and being connected to the world through social media and cloud services.

It is not necessary to do much research to realize the digital impact on commerce. We can observe commercial centers or traditional premises in abandonment, or without occupying; the disappearance of travel agencies or rental services such as movies. Large online stores have shaken chains like Walmart, which recently announced a restructuring of its business model to be able to compete with Amazon in the digital arena. Today the present and future of commerce are on the Internet, where there are no schedules or the need to be physically in the establishment, only a few clicks are enough to purchase any service or product from the comfort of our phones.

We must not lose sight, however, that when buying it is necessary to take into consideration basic security elements, such as checking if the company is real, if it has the padlock used to guarantee the security of the purchase, or the one that has policies clear. The reality is that although they are important elements, anyone with unfair intentions can also generate those elements without further complication. So in Internet purchases, what today governs the value of trust, are the testimonies of other users. In any portal we can find links to sites where as customers, we can post comments or share shopping experiences, from which we can also review the activity of the brand.

At this point it is important to clarify that personally, I would never buy from anyone who has their networks or electronic portal in abandonment, because you do not know if the company ceased operations or they are simply not interested in its public image. In both cases they do not generate trust. Hence the importance of having a community manager who constantly updates our brand events, in case of having Internet operations.

As sellers, it is important to beware of scammers as there are many pseudo agencies which make very cheap “websites”. In the end, they will end up losing money, so I recommend that they look for professionals or specialized firms, where the investment is greater, but they will obtain a very favorable result.
